Project overview
The original Nihotupu 1 watermain was laid around 1905 from cast-iron pipe. Water is pumped from the Titirangi Reservoirs to the Nihotupu Reservoir and supplies approximately 18,000 elevated customers in Laingholm and Titirangi.
Due to the age and condition of the existing Nihotupu 1 watermain it needs to be replaced.
The overall construction timeframe for these works are from late May until late 2025. The majority of these works are in the Titirangi area. These works are in the Titirangi and Glen Eden area.
Please refer to the overall site map to show the extent of the entire project.

Update on current works in the area
Atkinson Road, Titirangi
We plan have finished all of the pipe work on Atkinson Road. Connection works are planned to take place from mid-January 2026. The goal is to have all of the road reinstated before school comes back in early February 2026.
Rosier Road, Solar Road, and Pisces Road (Glen Eden)
Watermain works are all complete and our connection works taking place which are scheduled to be finished by early February 2026.
Kaurilands Road, Titirangi
These works are complete. Please note there are some minor works for approximately two days in the footpath outside 58 Kaurilands Road in January 2026.
Daffodil Street and Konini Road, Titirangi
Our watermain works on these streets are now complete.
Scenic Drive and Huia Road, Titirangi
Watermain works are now complete. Please note we will need to carry out connections early in the new year and the final reinstatement of the trench on Huia Road.
Upcoming works in Glen Eden – Withers Road, Kashmir Road, and Nandana Drive
While working in the area we have also identified additional sections of the local water network in Glen Eden that require upgrading. These areas include Withers Road, Kashmir Road, and Nandana Drive.
By laying this additional watermain now, we can complete the work more efficiently and avoid the need to return at a later date.
This section of work is expected to begin in February 2026 and take approximately four months to complete.
Please refer to the map below for the works area
